On Monday 02May2016 at 1909 hours, police were dispatched to 16694 No. 27 Side road, Halton Hills. The complainant, PARLANE called to report that he had returned home to find that his shop had been broken into, and an attempted entry was made on his home.

Police arrived on scene minutes later to learn that PARLANE, the renter and sole occupant of this property had been away from his property since 0630 until 1830 on this date while he was working in Toronto. When he returned home, he found that the door to his workshop had been force open, and so had the outside door to his residence.

16694 No. 27 Side road, Halton Hills is large a rural property located on the south side of No. 27 Side road.  There are 3 structures on this property; all of which are very old and in disrepair- an abandoned house, a shed and the shop which is attached to PARLANE's very small residence.

There are 2 driveways, but the west driveway is blocked by a gate and can be accessed only by foot. It would be possible to pull a vehicle into this driveway and not be seen by passerby. There are no security measures, and PARLANE had contacted neighbours who had not noticed anything suspicious.

The suspect(s) gained entry to the shop that is attached to PARLANE's residence. The outward swinging wooden doors on the east side of the building appear to have been pried open with a tool. The back window was also broken, but was too small to gain entry. The shop is full of miscellaneous items. PARLANE is only aware of two old chainsaws missing at the moment, approximate value $100.

PARLANE's actual residence has two doors that must be opened to gain access. The outside door is secured with a deadbolt- this was pried open, but the second door is sturdier and was not opened. Therefore, the shop is the only area that the suspect(s) gained entry to. It is of the officer's opinion that this is unprofessional.

Located in the grassy area between the driveway and the structures was a small pipe, commonly used for smoking marihuana. The writer seized it for forensic testing. Property bag HH 752275.

The property is currently for sale. The writer has emailed the broker to determine if anyone had attended the property on this date and may have observed the suspect(s).

This property had a similar break and enter in March 2016.
