Thank You to the Volunteers of Crime Stoppers of Halton
As Canada celebrated National Volunteer Week last week, the Board of Directors and Volunteers of Crime Stoppers of Halton came together on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Halton Region Building for their annual Appreciation Dinner in celebration of the time, commitment and work that our volunteers give to our organization to educate and to raise awareness and funds throughout the Halton region.

The evening was filled with great company, much laughter and great food. Crime Stoppers of Halton Board Chair, Doug Maybee gave a status report on the organization and retired constable with CN Police Service and Crime Stoppers of Halton Board Director Wally Trapler took time to educate us on Rail Safety. Police Detective Constable Jodi Richmond also outlined the upcoming events on the calendar and praised the Volunteers for the work that they have already done this year.

The evening closed with a certificate presentation to our volunteers for the work they have done for Crime Stoppers of Halton. Jennifer L. Olchowy, Director on the Board and Chair of the Volunteer Committee emceed the event. “I am honoured to volunteer alongside such incredible and talented people and I am confident to say that we have the best volunteers of any not for profit. You are the big heart of our organization and because of you we continue to strengthen our program and raise awareness within the community with each passing year. Together, we continue to have a hand in keeping Halton the #1 safest municipality for its size in Canada.”

Since 1988, our Crime Stoppers chapter and its volunteers has always been one of heart and giving back. We are comprised of a large group of passionate individuals who share the common goal of keeping Halton safe. It is because of these volunteers that Crime Stoppers of Halton has remained a strong and stable organization over the years and will continue to grow in strength for each passing year.

The theme of National Volunteer Week this year is Volunteering, eh? How do you recognize volunteering in 2017?, which encourages us to celebrate the many diverse forms of volunteering in our communities. From our signature events such as Feed the Beast, where we, along with our Sponsor, File Bank, give residents an opportunity to shred confidential documents to prevent identity theft to doing presentations at schools and local organizations, our Volunteers continue to raise awareness and have those important questions with residents of all ages.

This year, as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation, Crime Stoppers of Halton sincerely thanks our volunteers who contribute every day to keeping our community strong and safe. Thank you for all that you do!
